Amanda L. Garcia

Associate Producer in Los Angeles, California

Amanda recently returned to Los Angeles after spending almost two years in NYC working in news production for NBCUniversal. She currently works as an Associate Producer with KCET's SoCal Connected, a news magazine and public affairs show for Southern California. From researching initial pitches to coordinating interviews and post-production, Amanda oversees each news piece from start to finish.

In 2014, Amanda made the move to the East Coast after accepting a position within the prestigious NBCUniversal Page Program. 6 months into the program, Amanda secured a full-time position at MSNBC, where she worked as a Production Assistant on the weekend morning political talk show UP with Steve Kornacki. As a News PA, Amanda gained a wide-range of experience in segment and anchor producing, as well as graphics and video editing, while helping to produce a two-hour live cable news broadcast every Saturday and Sunday morning.

As an NBCUniversal East Coast Page, Amanda thrived in a variety of media environments, from cable news production and entertainment development, to talent relations and digital media franchises. Amanda also served as a liaison between the public and NBCUniversal by conducting studio tours and assisting in audience coordination for shows like Late Night with Seth Meyers and The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, while escorting guests and talent for the TODAY show and Saturday Night Live.

In the past, Amanda has worked as a financial reporter for GoBankingRates.com and developed an expert voice on local, national and global financial markets, demonstrating a keen understanding of financial trends, personal finance and investment strategies.

With a B.A. in Political Science and a Minor in English, Amanda used her years at UC Santa Barbara to master live on-air news broadcasts for KCSB 91.9 FM and cable television production. She published and edited countless articles and photos for her weekly university newspaper The Bottom Line, first as a reporter and photographer, later as Executive Managing Editor.

Numerous internships at professional news organizations have helped her hone her production skills, while learning how to become an engaging, creative and intuitive visual storyteller.
