Amanda Schaff

California, United States

I'm a native Californian, grown in the north, raised in the mountains. I recently graduated from Pacific Union College with a B.S. in Biology and am currently pursuing my dream to become a wildlife veterinarian.

I am a wild child, lover of all things wild: wild animals, wildflowers and the wild wild west. I love nature and am entirely happy when I am out exploring and enjoying the beauty of the natural world. I love hiking, backpacking, camping, kayaking, and paddleboarding. I cannot live more than 100 miles from the ocean.

Running clears my mind, traveling opens my mind, and reading expands my mind - these are a few of my favorite things.

I left my heart in Suid-Afrika, a beautiful place that I plan to return to and live. It is there that I feel truly at home.

I am so passionate about animals, their conservation, the environment and animal rights. I love to get involved with helping animals, volunteering my time at a shelter, a rehab center, or a conservation project that desires to return an ecosystem back to a pristine condition.

Animals are my life and I believe in their emotional lives whole-heartedly. It is for this reason that I am a vegetarian. I boycott Seaworld and theme parks that exploit animals for entertainment, I believe completely in adopting animals, not breeding them, and I try my hardest to spread awareness about animal welfare, especially about saving the rhinos, because I love them so much.
