Amanda Foster

Amanda Foster

Born in Los Angeles, California, very passionately driven at 10 years old, Amanda first found her interest in caring for children while volunteering at the local church nursery and bi- annually as a camp counselor. While in high school, her first job was babysitting and nannying for multiple nursery families. Amanda also worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a playground supervisor where she ensured secure facilities as well as coached children in a variety of sports. Later, she was hired by the Los Angeles County Office of Education as a tutor, working with underprivileged children who were in the juvenile or foster care system. Before going to college, she was awarded a full-ride, athletic scholarship, to Long Beach State University where she decided to expand on her desire for teaching and caring for children, and earned her Bachelor's degree in Child Development and Family Studies.

Over the past 15 years, Amanda has had the chance to teach a diverse group of students ranging from those who are mentally and physically challenged, to the intercity youth. Through these experiences, she has gained an in-depth knowledge of accommodating different learning styles and incorporating effective methods to meet each student's unique needs. Her teaching style encourages child learning (development) by incorporating active learning stations, technology, and interactive hands-on sensory activities. These methods stimulate social, emotional, physical, and academic growth. Amanda uses these strategies to introduce new concepts, establish a connection between classroom and everyday life, teach fundamental skills, and foster an exciting and engaging learning atmosphere where children are eager to learn. Amanda's combined education and experience establishes her as one of the top preschool teachers in southern California. You will find her unwavering commitment to education, excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, hands-on experience, and love for children to be a positive asset to your child's development.
