Writer, Performer, and Strategist in Washington, DC
I'm a writer, performer and strategist who is doing my best to make the world a better place.
I'm an improviser, not just on stage, but in my soul. Life is improvisation. I give talks on this, and was even voted a SXSW audience favorite.
My book, Feeling My Way: Finding Motherhood Without Losing Yourself, explores how I improvised my way to becoming a mother (a work in progress). My blog, Having it Alt, is about writing your own script in life when nobody else's will do; again with the improv.
My company, Good Things Consulting (goodthingsconsulting.com), helps people and organizations I believe in write THEIR scripts, by telling their stories in powerful ways online and beyond. In the parlance of our time, I build brands. If you need help with this, let's tawk.
My second book is in the works, and explores what it takes to raise an artist in our culture, among other themes. As an artist and a mother, it is not lost on me that the two parts of my identity that I hold most dear are also roles to which our culture assigns zero power.
Words to live by: "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive, and go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive." (Howard Thurman)
I live in DC with my husband, our daughter, and a very gassy dog.
