New York, NY
Amanda is currently living her lifelong dream of working in publishing in New York City. She is a Publicity Assistant for the Plume and Hudson Street Press imprints of Penguin Group (USA), a Penguin Random House company. Prior to that, she was an Advertising & Promotions intern for the Berkley and NAL imprints at Penguin and a Literary intern at the Maria Carvainis Agency.
Amanda grew up in Denver, Colorado, where she learned the value of time spent outdoors. She attended Colorado State University in Fort Collins, where she graduated with a B.A. in English Literature and a minor in Media Studies. She spent a summer studying history abroad in Greece and Turkey. During her senior year, she was the head AmeriCorps intern for the SpeakOut! Initiative of the Community Literacy Center at CSU. This initiative works to develop a writing workshop and subsequent publication for incarcerated women.
After college, Amanda worked in retail sales and traveled extensively throughout the U.S. She then set her sights abroad and underwent teacher training in Spain. She received a Level 5 TESOL Certificate through Oxford TEFL Barcelona (accredited through Trinity College London). She then spent three months traveling through 27 cities in both Europe and Israel.
Upon her return, she attended the Summer Publishing Institute at New York University, where she learned from experts in the top of their field. During this intensive course, her group won for best overall magazine where she acted as Social Media Coordinator. She was lucky enough to pitch the idea to a well-known corporation.
Her top hobbies include reading, writing, social media, rooting for the Denver Broncos, seeing as many Broadway shows as she can, and watching Netflix.
