Amanda Syryda, aka Mandi the Clown, founder of Hip Flick Hoops is an eccentric, energetic and enthusiastic hoop dance instructor and performing artist. Born and raised in Dawson Creek, BC and currently residing in Grande Prairie, Alberta where she is now a full-time hooper and loving it!
While being perpetually inspired by the world of performing arts through props such as poi, flags and juggling, her true passion lies in hoop dance. She began her hooping journey in early 2009 and having no classes in the area, learned in her apartment kitchen through online classes and YouTube videos. She has now been teaching and performing locally and within the surrounding area since 2010.
Within the Grande Prairie community Amanda is a pioneer of hoop dance and is often recognized as the ‘hoop girl’. As well as teaching, she organizes free community spin jams in the park each summer and has performed at local high profile events such as the 2010 Arctic Winter Games, the annual Festival of Trees 4 years running, and the annual Wearable Arts Show.
After finally finding her true passion and life's calling, it is now Amanda's mission to spread hoop love far and wide. An ever-growing desire to inspire and bring joy to others is what drives this entrepreneur to go beyond the ordinary, and into the extraordinary with her products and services.
Amanda is well known for her positive attitude, madd hoop flow and astounding stage presence. Recently gravitating more and more towards kids you can often find her clowning around entertaining at family events, fundraisers and birthday parties.
