JOÃO AMARO DE MATOS is Associate Professor of Finance and Associate Dean for International Development at Nova School of Business and Economics, Universidade Nova de Lisboa, Portugal, where he has directed the Undergraduate Business course and the PhD Degrees in Finance and Economics and more recently the PhD in Management. He holds a PhD in Physics from São Paulo University (Brazil) and a PhD in Management from INSEAD (Fontainebleau, France). He worked in Econometric problems related to the test of American Option Pricing Models and is now focused on modeling the impact of social interaction in markets. His research has been published in representative journals of Physics and Finance, and has published in 2002 a book by Princeton University Press on Corporate Finance at the graduate level, entitled "Theoretical Foundations of Corporate Finance". Currently teaches courses of Investments, Derivatives and Corporate Finance, and visits regularly several institutions from Europe and South America.
