Rebecca Long
Servant Leader, Technologist, and Change Maker in Cheney, WA
I am a dynamic leader in software engineering with over 20 years of experience, specializing in Agile practices, quality assurance, and DevOps. As a Director of Software Engineering, I lead two global development teams, driving innovation, process improvement, and delivering high-quality solutions. I also co-lead the women in tech employee resource group at work. My passion for diversity, equity, and inclusion has fueled my work beyond the corporate world.
I founded Future Ada, a Spokane-based nonprofit that advocates for diversity and inclusion in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics), and I am committed to empowering underrepresented groups in technology. In addition, I served as Vice Chair of the Spokane chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW) and contribute to shaping the future of education as a Board Officer of the Eastern Washington University Computer Science Professional Advisory Board.
I believe in civic engagement and the power of community. I ran for Cheney City Council in 2023 and running again this year. I created a local civics newsletter, Cheney Coffee & Civics, to help bring greater community engagement in local politics. Additionally, I am a founding member of Cheney Cohousing, where I work to create sustainable, inclusive living spaces.
