I am in my eighth year as a high school librarian. I earned my Bachelor's degree from Lehigh University in American Studies, my Master's degree from Kutztown University in Library Science, where I also obtained my k-12 Library Certification, and my Master's in Education degree from Wilkes University in Instructional Media. Currently, I'm enrolled in the Technologies for Digital Literacy Letter of Completion program at Mansfield University and Information Fluency for the Digital Landscape is my second course. I love being a librarian, not only to be able to foster a love of reading in young people, but also to be able to help students find the ability and confidence to answer their own questions using the most reliable resources available to them. Empowering students to become responsible citizens who will contribute positively to society is my goal.
My favorite Web 2.0 tools are the Google apps for education, such as blogger, sites, plus, hangouts, and drive. I also have used wikis, Prezi, Edmodo, Animoto, Glogster, Voicethread, Wordle, Xtranormal, Noteability, and Skaffl. Our district also uses Moodle, which is an online classroom forum, and subscribes to NoodleTools, a bibliography, note card, and outline tool.
I have a loving husband, a wonderful 11 month old son, and three rambunctious dogs. We lead an active life-style and enjoy hiking, camping, gardening, swimming, and skiing. I also am a runner and practice yoga. Somehow, I still manage to fit in my own recreational reading, but I have found some fantastic children's books as I have been reading to my son.
