Hi! My name is Amber, and I am a Student Meteorologist at the University of Georgia. Growing up, I had a rough childhood. I experienced a variety of diversities in my life that shaped me into who I am today. From losing my mother at a young age to going through the foster care system, I went through life altering events before I even finished elementary school. I learned at a young age life was not easy and it it surely isnt fair. However, I new from a young age I wanted to be a Broadcast Meteorologist and that I couldn’t let anything hold me back if I wanted to reach that goal. From then on, my life goal became set on overcoming these challenges and using them to help others and spread positivity. I quickly began to believe the phrase, “everything happens for a reason,” and I still believe in that today. Through my time in foster care, I experienced betrayal at a young age. My attorney and guardian ad litem were all working against my very strong feelings of never wanting to set foot in my father’s house again. The man who was responsible for losing custody of me to the government. These were the people who were supposed to fight for me, and instead, they were trying to get the case closed as quickly as they could, even if that meant my case was covered with a band-aid instead of finding a solution to help with the pain. Through all this, I refused to lose my positivity and happiness and continued to fight for what I knew was right. Eventually, I achieved it. From then on, I knew that I was the only one responsible for my happiness and ensuring it is maintained. Positivity is the first step towards ensuring this happens, and this is why positivity is the most important thing to me.
