Andrew McCormack

I work in venture capital as a Partner at Valar Ventures. I'm based in New York City but spends much of my time traveling internationally, working with portfolio companies and prospective portfolio companies. My career in technology has included business and corporate development roles at eCount (acquired by Citibank) and Yahoo!. I joined PayPal in 2001 and worked closely with Peter Thiel in preparing for the company’s IPO. After PayPal’s sale to eBay, I helped start Clarium Capital Management. In 2003, I went on my own entrepreneurial path and founded a restaurant group in San Francisco. After five years and two great restaurants, Frisson and Laiola, I decided to rejoin Peter at Thiel Capital in early 2008. In 2010 we launched Valar Ventures, a venture firm dedicated to finding and working with transformative technology companies located outside the United States.
