Ann Chambers Meagher (pronounced Mar) joined Prudential in 2000 until 2005, and later returned to the Company in July 2011 as Vice President and head of External Affairs and Government Relations communications division. She now leads the corporate communications activities for the Law, Compliance, Business Ethics & External Affairs Department, where she guides strategic communications projects and works with internal clients and government lobbyists in coordinating public policy issues and legislative priorities for the Company, as well as supporting communications activities for the General Counsel.
Prior to joining Prudential, she was President and Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Southern Dutchess Chamber of Commerce, a regional business organization located in the Hudson Valley, New York. It was here where she introduced innovation and imagination into all Chamber programming and provided exceptional management, with a keen focus on the Chamber’s growth. While at the Chamber, she implemented new programming that strongly supports women business owners; she also formed the Hudson Valley’s only Young Professionals networking group. Prior to her work at the Chamber, she led the Public Affairs Department of the New York State Assembly Minority Conference and served as Director of Communications for Senator Stephen M. Saland.
In 2009, she received statewide recognition as a New York State “Woman of Distinction.” She has been recognized by numerous Hudson Valley organizations including Dia:Beacon and the Dia Art Foundation, Dutchess County Girl Scouts Council and was named by the Hudson Valley Boy Scouts as a “Distinguished Citizen." She has received special recognition as a Top Forty Under 40 for professional excellence, leadership and commitment to community.
She currently sits on the boards of the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley (where she Chairs the Governance Committee as well as serves on the Executive Committee) and sits as a Trustee of the Vassar Brothers Medical Center Foundation Board.
A graduate of Ithaca College, she is currently pursuing her Masters Degree in Integrated Marketing Communication at Marist College. She lives in Millbrook, New York with her 11-year old son, Jack Mulvey Meagher, and two black Labradors, Tuckerman and Daisy. She is a working mother and active in supporting the programs of Dutchess Day School.
