Communication and Relations Specialist, T'ai Chi Chi Instructor, and Permaculture Design consultant, teacher in San Diego, California

The communication training and facilitation I provide encourages the advancement of our culture to go beyond a survival mode where “power over” is the technique that perpetuates fear based actions and depletion of human resources. I support you and your team to develop life skills that make best use of our inherent capacity to thrive as we remember our need to listen deeply and invest in the broader scope of shared, cultivated territory and resources.

Meetings, group discussions, project design and problems are commonly approached with techniques to speak louder, over others, demand attention and expect consensus or compliance.

How many staff and board meetings have you suffered through?

-Same people taking over, ignoring, insisting, coercing?

How are you motivated?

-To convince others? To shut them down, win, take over?

Are you just being nice?

- Don’t want to make a fuss, point out a problem or step on anyone’s toes?

-Is "nice" your act of faking to get someone to do something?

Are we so cautious and cowardly that we perpetually miss our responsibility to make a difference?

- Does the idea of “confrontation” hold negative connotations for you?

The purpose of the group process I facilitate is beyond the goal of decisions made by vote or similar “majority rules” (consensus) that often falsely suggest an accomplishment of productive collaboration or appropriate solution.

We’ve become disconnected from our design potential since our “power-over” culture has been defining us. We can design our workforce/culture to better care for each other and afford dynamic social-emotional health through authentic communication and efficiently resourcing our relations and co-creating systems that better serve to meet our needs.

Communicate, organize and take action out of appreciating and resourcing diversity rather than expecting health and abundance to be realized out of existing systems based on hierarchy, punishment and demands.

My interactive, on-site support sustains a focused attention, honors diversity and meets needs for clarity and empowerment while stimulating the necessary conversations in a practice of building confidence and efficient skills to secure a foundation for long term success.
