Amelia Helm

Lacrosse Coach in Oakland, California

I am a recent graduate of Converse College, SC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry. I would like to use my chemistry background to help develop a sustainable future for our planet.

I was born and raised in northern California. I played lacrosse at the NCAA at the Division 2 level during my time at Converse and I enjoy attending sporting events so I can cheer on my local teams. Go A's! In my free time, I like to dabble in arts & crafts, play club lacrosse, and teaching my puppy new tricks.

Throughout middle school and high school, I did not like science at all and they were some of my hardest classes. As a high school senior, I took an athletic training class since I was an athlete and I heard it was fun. The subject peaked my interest of physical therapy so when I went to college, I was set to be on a biology track. When I took my first science class as a freshman at Converse College, they put me into chemistry and I felt like I finally found where I belong. I believe that all that time spent disliking science, I was just waiting for a great teacher to inspire me. I switched my major that first semester of college and never looked back.
