Amelyn Laro is a versatile and accomplished professional who fulfills various roles as a social worker, educator, researcher, and advocate for gender equality. Her extensive global travels have taken her to diverse destinations, including Kazakhstan, Canada, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, South Korea, the United States, and Germany. In these regions, she has devoted her energies to addressing pressing issues related to gender and women's rights. Her specialized knowledge spans areas such as women's and girls' rights, as well as the challenges faced by refugees and internally displaced individuals. Amelyn has earned notable distinctions in her career, including recognition as a Community Solutions Fellow through the US Department of State, accreditation as an ASIAN Gender Trainer from the Korean Institute for Gender Equality Promotion and Education, and a fellowship at the International Sustainability Academy in Hamburg, Germany, where she is currently spearheading the "Teach for Gender Equality" project. Moreover, she serves as the Moderator of the Community Solutions Program Leadership Community of Practice for East Asia Pacific. Previously, the proponent of the Project Advocacy on Women’s Education and Empowerment. In 2024, she was selected as a Fellow for the Feminist Edge Fellowship in the Netherlands by the KIT Royal Institute and United Nations Women Training Center while pursuing her Ph.D. in Development Administration at the University of Southeastern Philippines Mintal Campus.

In 2019, Amelyn undertook the pivotal task of establishing the Social Work Program at the Southern Philippines Agribusiness Marine and Aquatic School of Technology, showcasing her commitment to advancing education and empowerment. She started courses like Green Social Work Practice & Gender and Social Work. Her expertise is highly sought after, and she is a frequent guest speaker on crucial topics such as gender-responsive case management, gender sensitivity, handling violence against women, and creating safe spaces. Her dedication and proficiency in these domains have earned her a well-deserved reputation as a respected authority in her field. Amelyn's contributions extend to the realm of literature, with her current books, "STREETS TO HORIZONS: A JOURNEY FROM STREET EDUCATION TO GLOBAL EDUCATION" and "Gender Responsive Toolkit for Teachers," now available on Amazon.
