Amin El Sharkawi has more than two decades of experience managing sustainable development projects. His experience includes contract management, infrastructure development, and internationally funded technical cooperation projects. He was formerly the general manager of Fichtner Consulting Engineers (KSA branch) and the director of the GIZ Stabilisation Program in Sudan.

As UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Resident Representative, Mr. El Sharkawi played a vital role in steering many strategic initiatives on SDGs. He led 16 UN agencies in Bahrain in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to create a four-year Strategic Development Cooperation Framework (2018-2022), aligning it with Bahrain's national plans and the UN's Agenda 2030 and SDGs.

He was instrumental in shaping Bahrain’s National Energy Efficiency Action Plan and its National Renewable Energy Action Plan. The latter involved overseeing the Sustainable Energy Unit project, supervising and implementing 22 energy efficiency initiatives, and formulating and endorsing connection and net metering policies. As UN Deputy Country Director, Mr. El Sharkawi also led the development of a USD800 million development assistance framework in Sudan and the USD7.24 billion Darfur Development Strategy, incorporating infrastructure, economic recovery, and governance.

Mr. El Sharkawi has extensive experience representing and working with private sector companies, multilateral organizations, and funding institutions. He excels in project planning, risk mitigation, quality assurance, and financial management across diverse sectors. This experience, alongside his multi-faceted skillset in senior leadership, business strategy, and international cooperation, make him a valuable asset in the fields of management and engineering.
