M. Aminul Islam Nazir

M. Aminul Islam Nazir is a fully qualified advocate with the right of audience before the Admiralty Court of Bangladesh and a member of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association and International Bar Association. He has more than a decade of experience in transport liability claims.
Aminul began his career in maritime industry with a P&I correspondent firm in Bangladesh as its legal counsel and gained an owners’-eye perspective that helped to inform his pragmatic approach towards marine case management. In 2009, he moved to establish Assurance Maritime Bangladesh Limited where he utilises his claims background to develop unique solutions that fit each client's needs.
Aminul has first-hand experience in dealing with P&I and FD&D claims and is regularly instructed by IG clubs and fixed premium facilities. His wide-ranging expertise covers all aspects of dry and wet shipping encountered through the life of a vessel, from bill of lading disputes to collisions, from shipbuilding to demolition sale. He assists the client to decide the most appropriate method to enforce their claims in Bangladesh and advises on lien on cargo and ship arrest & release procedure in Bangladesh.
Aminul is frequently asked by a wide range of foreign lawyers to assist them in offshore and marine project development in Bangladesh. He helps them throughout the project life cycle- from preparing bidding documents to regulatory or environmental clearance, from dealing with casualties during construction or operations to managing dispute resolution.
Aminul gained a Bachelor of Laws (LL. B) and Masters of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Chittagong, Bangladesh. Apart from his office duties, he acts as visiting lecturer on Maritime Law at Marine Fisheries Academy, Bangladesh.
