Amira Zubairi

Amira Zubairi, 18, is a Journalism student at Ryerson University. She is originally from Karachi, Pakistan, but has lived in Oakville, Ontario since 2002. Recently, she has embarked on her venture in one of the liveliest cities in the country, Toronto. Her journey as an aspiring journalist began in 2009, when she became an active writer and co-editor for her high school paper, Ridge Report. She is especially passionate about various spectrums in the field such as international development, human rights, social issues, political concerns, and culture. She hopes to pursue a career in print journalism and use her words to spark positive change in the world among people within her local, national, and global community.

After having travelled to underpriveleged nations, such as Dominican Republic and Haiti, she has discovered that success doesn't lie where there are big piles of money, but rather in a place where people can help one another live their biggest dreams. She is continously striving to achieve her dreams, and believes that anything can be can be done with a a whole lot of courage, motivation, and positivity.

In her spare time, Amira enjoys reading, writing, cooking, playing the guitar and simply spending time with her loved ones.
