University of Nevada, Reno, associate professor Amir Talaei-Khoei is internationally known for his success in employing AI-enabled analytics and data techniques to deliver insights in occupational safety and disease prediction and modeling. Another area of focus for Dr. Amir Talaei-Khoei is on engineering challenges in roadway construction, mining, and wildfires.

Dr. Talaei-Khoei has pursued a wide range of grant research projects, including one in 2020 funded by the Nevada Department of Health and Human Services and the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Informing the nearly $500,000 project as a co-primary investigator, Dr. Talaei-Khoei helped create an online antimicrobial stewardship toolkit for use by nursing homes.

Dr. Talaei-Khoei has coauthored diverse papers in his field, including “A Predictive Analytics Framework for Identifying Patients at Risk of Developing Multiple Medical Complications Caused by Chronic Diseases” (Artificial Intelligence in Medicine, 2019). Beyond research, Dr. Talaei-Khoei is a respected educator who has helped design an online executive MBA program in health informatics.
