Amit is an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering at University of Hertfordshire, England, UK. He also holds an Honorary Senior Lectureship in Biomedical Engineering at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK.

Amit is also a Chartered Engineer (CEng), UK, Fellow of Higher Education Academy (FHEA), UK, and a Fellow of Royal Society of Arts (FRSA).

Amit's interests range from science to nature. His specific research interests are in the area of Neurorehabilitation engineering.
