With the philosophy that "No price is too heavy to pay for the privilege of owning oneself", Amokura's career has been focused on advancing and promoting Māori community and economic development.

A recognised freelance journalist, creative writer, project manager and business consultant Amokura started her writing career with NZ Life & Leisure and in her words ‘walked into her calling’ where her years of experience with public and private sector organisations including the non-profit sector, has given her an amazing network to source awesome stories from. A number of which still need to be written.

To date she has written for NZ Life & Leisure, B-Guided, Idealog, Mana, Te Karaka, Live Magazine, Taranaki Daily News and now two Māori Land Incorporation publications Whenua and AWHI.

She continues to work with iStudios Multimedia, an innovative media design team made up of extended whānau, helping provide online word content, editorial and publications as well as providing communications support to a number of Māori agri-business companies.

Her latest foray into politics has landed her with the auspicious role of being National Secretary for the Māori Party so she expects the next couple of years to be productive.
