Amr Dabbous is a distinguished economist and foremost pioneer of technical analysis across the Middle East and North Africa. With over 30 years of market expertise, he has become synonymous with precision-driven financial forecasting and strategic market insight.

As the founder and Managing Director of Momentum Wavers—Egypt’s first specialized technical analysis firm—Mr. Dabbous has profoundly shaped regional investment methodologies. His leadership also led to the establishment of the Egyptian Society of Technical Analysts (ESTA) in 2000. ESTA, a non-profit fully aligned with the International Federation of Technical Analysts, has grown into the Middle East’s most reputable professional society for technical analysis. It issues the globally recognized CETA certification—ranked third worldwide in its equivalency to IFTA’s CFTe—and has played a key role in advancing the discipline through regional educational outreach.

Mr. Dabbous began his career as a Foreign Exchange and Currency Options Dealer at the Arab International Bank, managing portfolios for both institutional clients and the bank itself. He then rose to become Head of Trading at EFG-Hermes Asset Management, overseeing cash and trading operations for significant investment funds.

In his current capacity, he provides bespoke investment advisory services in equities, FX, and precious metals to a select group of discerning clients. A prolific writer and media contributor, he has authored two technical analysis guides—including The 1-Day Technical Analysis Expert Guide—alongside numerous market articles. His insightful analyses made him a trusted voice on regional media, notably through his weekly segment on The Index (Sama Dubai Channel, 2008), which achieved record viewership as he accurately forecasted a market downturn ahead of the global financial crisis.

A respected educator, Mr. Dabbous has organized and led technical analysis workshops for top-tier institutions—including the American University in Cairo’s Institute of Banking and Finance, as well as various prominent financial organizations across Egypt.
