Anna Marie Sokolowski
My name is Anna Marie Sokolowski and I am a freshman at the University of Georgia. I am from Atlanta, Georgia and I grew up in Sandy Springs. I attended Holy Innocents Episcopal School from Kindergarten through my senior year. I have a twin brother, a younger brother who is a sophomore in high school and a younger sister who is in eighth grade. My dad is a general contractor and is the President of RLS Construction.
Ever since I was little, I have been going to Lake Burton. My mom grew up there and so did I. My family finally got a house there when I was in fifth grade, but I have been going there since I was a few months old. My family has so many memories there and I am just now realizing that my family has grown closer because of Lake Burton. I learned how to ski in the exact same spot as my mom and there are little things like that that really stand out to me. The lake has given my family a common interest. I truly think that the lake has given my family a place where we know that we can spend time together and always have a good time together, no matter what season it is. Many of my childhood memories begin with “One day at Lake Burton…” This is a part of my biography because it is such a huge part of me and my life. I have grown up here and it has given me a place to develop as a person away from the busy life of the city where I live.
Here at UGA, I am majoring in Pre-Business- Finance. I have always been strong in math so hopefully this is the right major for me. Even though my major is not going to consist of many more English classes, I am really happy that I had the opportunity to take Professor Boldt’s class because I feel like I have really grown as a writer in this class and it will definitely help me with whatever I do in the future.
