C'est La Vie. I'm on a journey. I am an unapologetic single mother who loves her work, her son, and listening to music in any free time I have. I'm not there quite yet, but I'm farther than I was last year and I have traveled with very interesting people along the way.

I am a board certified Family Nurse Practitioner. I am am the Pediatric Aerodigestive Nurse Practitioner for Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. I am the Chair of the Patient Education Committee with the Association of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition Nurses (APGNN).

My research interest in nursing includes pediatric aerodigestive disorders as well as the integration of music and medicine. I spoke last summer at the Interdisciplinary Society for Quantitative Research in Music and Medicine on a "Review of Music and Medicine Research in Pediatric Patients" (http://isqrmm.org).

I recently published a book on Medication Classes for NCLEX - a nod to my second masters degree in Nursing Education. I previously served as the Director of the VA Nursing Academy at the Medical University of South Carolina and specialized in teaching healthcare simulation and interdisciplinary professionals. She has written several pediatric simulations being sold by Laerdal.

Past research and clinical improvement projects include the following: Echinacea and immune function, use of neutraceuticals in immunity, how urban design affects choice and health, use of healthcare simulation in higher education, and implementing the EPIC EMR into clinical practice.

I went into nursing to serve people and I try to keep that focus amid the often competing challenges of the healthcare profession. I have found my niche in advocating the best interests and health of children. I have traveled to Rwanda, Haiti, and Mexico to improve the health of orphans. Due to a large international extended family, I keep current on the latest health happenings around the world. My son Miles makes sure I get ample play time daily to stay grounded with what is important.
