Student in Georgia

I am a senior mass media arts major with a concentration in public relations, studying at Clark Atlanta University. I currently work for the Department of Diversity and Civil Rights Compliance for Fulton County, where I serve as the Administrative Specialist. In this role, I develop public-facing flyers and other outreach materials. Some other tasks in this position include working alongside external affairs to oversee the communications plan for upcoming major events. While learning the ins and outs of the county, I’ve had the chance to sit in rooms that can positively influence my career.

Before accepting this position, I worked with PRSSA at Clark Atlanta University. While serving on the E-board, I was granted many opportunities to experience new aspects of the world of public relations, including holding the role of Communications Director. Being part of this organization allowed me to work alongside multiple Black-owned agencies. I had the honor of collaborating with the award-winning global media and entertainment agency, Media Girls Network. During their events, I assisted with event planning and content creation. Additionally, I worked with Jay Productions Agency, which specializes in events, marketing, and public relations. One of the biggest highlights was getting a firsthand red carpet experience. Working with JP Agency was a very eye-opening experience for me as an aspiring PR professional.

Moreover, being a scholar has allowed me to obtain scholarships throughout my academic career. Being an Isabella T. Jenkins Honors student has been one of my greatest accomplishments because when I feel overwhelmed, I continue to prove myself wrong every semester.

During my free time, I enjoy hanging out with my family and my line sisters. I look forward to learning the intricate details of public relations. Oftentimes, this field can appear glamorous, but as I continue my journey at Clark Atlanta University, I hope to learn about the more challenging parts of the job as well.
