Events Manager - March 2014 to present
I organise, book & co-ordinate all of the monthly events which are programmed at the Strongroom Bar & Kitchen. This involves liaising with around 30 promoters & DJs, and organising the promotion of the events, and ensuring that everything runs smoothly. I also manage the budget that is allocated for the venue’s events on a monthly basis, and co-ordinate all of the staff who are needed for regular events – such as catering, sound engineering & security.
In addition, I also maintain the events section of the venue website – this is something that I have initiated since taking the role on, I manage the press releases, listings for live events and the visual displays in the venue to ensure that the events are a success, and I manage the social media accounts to ensure that we keep our followers updated about what’s happening at the venue.
I also design & produce the monthly events poster, and create a newsletter to target information about our monthly events to people who have signed up via the website.
Frenz – Event Co-Ordinator, Promoter, PR, Marketing & Communications - January 2013 to present
Frenz is a monthly music night with a difference in East London. We interspersed some beautiful music with some inspirational talks. We generally had two music acts and one talk – or something different. We showcased acts such as Citizen Helene with Mary Epworth performing backing vocals, Wild Combination, The Bonfire Band, The Glue Ensemble, The Parade, O Chapman, Magic Lantern, The Hallelujah Trails and Sunsinger. The vibe was acoustic, chilled and relaxed. We also had some great DJs; Dan Davies from Wolf People, Fred Posts from Post War Years, & Luke Insect, amongst others, who have all added to the ambiance.
Along with one other person, I made sure that these gigs were successful and enjoyed by all who attend – bands and audience alike. This includes all of the booking, administration, promotion & organisation in the run up to the gig, and also the management on the night, of the artists and the general order of the proceedings. I have to be able to react to and immediately resolve any unforeseen last minute booking cancellations, technical hitches or even changes in the weather, if the gig is scheduled to be outside.
