Amy Thao Ngo

Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

I was raised by two classically-trained pianists who supported my multiple attempts at creative productions, including writing, sketching, playing the piano, photography, and dancing. Long hours of training seemed never-ending at the time but it taught me the importance of boring, repetitive tasks: With enough patience and “grit”, those hours will eventually help one perfect and honor his craft.

That is the attitude I bring to my professional and academic career. I will graduate Summa Cum Laude in May 2014 with a B.S. in Economics and Finance. In the next 5 years, my goals are to accumulate professional work experience, preferably in the M&A services/ investment banking industry, and pursue higher education in a quantitative field.

In my past internships and research assistantship, I provided solutions to organizations’ problems by conducting research, data analysis, and financial analysis. Currently, I’m working on several different projects concerning data collection, program evaluation, and company valuation:

Collect data on Vietnamese demographics, land use, and economic development spanning 50 years for a development economics study

Give advice on best practices, design research study, and conduct program evaluation for a poverty alleviation program in Dallas

Reconcile and analyze historical financial statements to provide metrics for M&A company valuations

My free time is divided between long distance running, keeping up with blogs and hosting dinner parties at which I enjoy entertaining friends and meeting new people.
