Amy Purcell Vorenberg

Amy Purcell Vorenberg is a Connecticut-based educational leader who engaged in Washington, DC, as the Beauvoir, The National Cathedral Elementary School head from 2013 to 2017. Active with the National Association of Independent Schools, Amy Purcell Vorenberg was able to redesign the teaching model in ways that fostered team teaching capacities.
Ms. Vorenberg additionally set up an administrative structure that fostered an enhanced thinking culture and moved the school toward goals of greater inclusion and diversity. Her background extends to more than a decade as a teacher. In the 1990s, she instructed third graders within a curriculum that spanned science, math, language arts, and affective education. She was able to implement an innovative Media Literacy curriculum and taught Island Cultures, with a focus on Puerto Rico.
Ms. Vorenberg’s past administrative experience includes a position as head of The Philadelphia School, where she raised funds that enabled a building repurposing and expansion project to go forward. A garage was re-conceptualized as a Multipurpose Theater and a new Early Childhood Classroom building was LEED certified and expanded available teaching space by 14,000 square feet.
