In DC Magazine, Amy was described as "widely considered the city's storytelling matriach." She has been the Artistic Executive Director of Story District (formerly SpeakeasyDC) since 2005 and has told dozens of her own true stories and prepared hundreds more to tell their own masterfully-crafted true tales on stage. Under Amy's leadership, Story District has grown from 50 people attending a monthly open mic night to 11,000 people a year enjoying more than 25 live shows and a countless learning and performance opportunities at some of DC's best venues (e.g. 9:30 Club, Lincoln Theater, Atlas Performing Arts Center, Sixth & I). In August, 2014, Amy performed at the Book Club in London as part of the first US vs. UK story slam and Story District won an NEA grant to take their signature Pride show -- Out/Spoken -- to other American cities.
