I hold an MFA from George Mason University, a MS in strategic communications from Syracuse University, and a BFA from the Corcoran College of Art and Design.
I am currently the director of marketing and communciations at ProLiteracy, where I focus on rebranding and strategic communications; developing advocacy and public policy messaging; and developing and disseminating unified messages and priorities, including the organization’s social media strategy.
Before joining ProLiteracy, I was the communications manager at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University from 2005-2010. My previous experience includes working as a communications manager in Syracuse University’s Office of News Services and as the deputy director of communications and media relations in CARE’s Office of Public Policy.
A Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, I served as a teacher-trainer in the higher education institute of Cape Verde, West Africa, from 1998-2000. My teaching experience also includes working as an adjunct instructor at Syracuse University, Le Moyne College, George Mason University, and Marymount University.
I have poems forthcoming in Freshwater and Poetry International. I have won awards from Poetry International, River City, Folio, and the National League of American Pen Women CNY. My work has been published in The Bellevue Review, Folio, River City, Kiosk, The Baltimore Review, So to Speak, The Washington Review and Koktjl.
