Hey there, I’m Ma. Ana Cassandra. I’m a student living in the Philippines.
The field of Music Theatre is in most people’s minds an unconventional course to take in college. The majority of our population would think to achieve the pinnacle of success in our field, a person just needs to be able to sing, dance and act well; while it is an important skill to have in our endeavours, it is not the only trait you need to be able to achieve the peak of triumph. It is my belief that being able to communicate effectively will open doors to more interaction and collaboration from people within and outside the path that you are taking.
I am of the opinion that art in whatever shape or form helps people in coping with any situation or circumstance they find themselves in. This is why I fell in love with the art of Music Theatre through the songs we sing or the parts we portray we can serve as a plain canvas or invoke strong positive or negative reactions from the audience. Having such power to influence how people think or perceive the world through the lens of our art makes it a strong sword to wield. So being able to create such a masterpiece for people to enjoy or to vibe especially during this time of crisis is a joy not only to us artists but also especially to the people we touch through our art.
Commitment has a lot of meaning to different kinds of people. But in terms of music, commitment to me means to be resilient in the face of any diversities. Staying committed to my art, my dreams in spite of whatever difficulties life throws at me. Having this virtue is what keeps me going in my journey, that whenever I fall down and feel like giving up, I look back and realize how far I have come from who I was back then and this gives me the strength to go all the way. Standing alone doesn't mean I am alone. It means that I am strong enough to handle all things by myself.
