My name is Andie Scruggs and the most prevalent driving factor of my life has been my art career. Currently I am an art major here at UGA with an emphasis in drawing and painting but my passion for creating started from before I can remember. Of course as a child I would doodle whatever I wanted whether it be flowers or characters from my favorite show at the time but I never considered art to be an actual career I could pursue until around highschool. I remember talking to my college counselor freshman year and she mentioned the possibility of pursuing an art major in passing, it was that moment I had decided that is what I would do. To prepare for my newly decided career I thought I would start studying painters I had been following which happened to line up with quarantine so I had plenty of time to really dive in. Eventually poorly done Bob Ross recreations became AP art portfolios, commissions for anyone who would ask, a fairly good Van Gogh recreation, competitive art programs, participation in art festivals in my hometown, and of course my acceptance into the University of Georgia which made my future goals seem much more attainable. At present, aside from having the opportunity to study at Lamar Dodd, I sell prints of my custom tarot cards at both shows and stores and am working with a highly known artist in Georgia on a few gallery exhibits this fall. Being nineteen I know my progression with my art career is nowhere near done but it has been an absolute pleasure of mine to watch my work, as well as myself as an artist, develop as far as they have.
