András Kerekes

I was born in Hungary, I studied at one of the biggest Hungarian unviersities, ELTE and in Amsterdam at the Vrije Universiteit and received MSc in Computer Science from both.

Currently I work as a software engineer in Jersey City, NJ. During my professional years I mostly used Java for development, but learned other languages as well, e.g. Perl, Scala, JavaScript, PHP, Delphi, C/C++.

Besides server-side development using Spring and Hibernate and interested in many of the new and not-so-new technologies and languages like NoSql, big data, Node.js, Ruby on Rails, Android.

I like to travel and I believe that one can know and understand a place only if he lives there for a while. I travelled many places in Europe, and stayed for half a year or longer on Tampere (Finland), Amsterdam (Netherlands), Ahmedabad (India). Right now I live in the New York Metropolitan area and explore New York City and the states around it (New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, etc.)

I love nature. Whenever I can I go hiking be it in forests, hills or mountains. I like canoeing trips either one day or one week, and went to the Camino de Santiago.

I dance some of the latin dances like salsa, bachata, zouk and reggaeton.
