After completeing HND Electronic Engineering (with distinction) in 1983 I joined Mercedes Datakor R&D team developing Assembler and 'C' based RTOS, communications, encryption and diagnostics software for Motorola 6809 and 68020 based banking and financial systems.
After leaving Datakor acted as technical consultant and developer to PC integrator & retail POS organisations. In June 1987 I started Network Interface Consultants (NIC) a leading consultancy and solution provider in the design, implementattion and support of PC networks as well as the integration into IBM SNA/SDLC mini and mainframe systems.
In 1998 I sold the company to Siltek, a JSE listed entity but after a disagreement on the strategic direction of the company I led a March 2000 management buyout (MBO) of the division into a company called Kunene Solutions & Services, later renamed to KSS Technologies.
In July 2012 I sold the Cisco systems integration business out of KSS Technologies to Nashua Communications, a division of the JSE listed Reunert group. Having completing my service agreement with Nashua Communications I returned to KSS Technologies in August 2013 to refocus on developments in the Internet of Things (IoT0 and cloud services (SAAS) space.
Outside of my life in business and technology I am divorced with 2 sons and have 2 property businesses focussing on longer term rentals and speculation respectively.
My personal philosophies in life can be summed up in 2 simple sayings:
Life is not a Dress Rehearsal, it is an Final Act.
I am the pig (not the chicken) in a bacon & egg breakfast, Committed and not just involved.
