I am a journalist and editor with more than a decade of experience in the news industry and specialize in criminal justice and local government reporting.

I currently work as an editor at The Virginian-Pilot and oversee the public safety and breaking news team.

Previously, I was based in Washington, D.C. and have covered both local news and Capitol Hill. For Route Fifty, an online news publication that focuses on state and local government, I wrote about Congress, federal policy technology and pandemic-related issues. Before that, I covered public safety in the D.C. region and the Justice Department for The Washington Times. I also have extensive experience reporting on Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. politics, public safety, and legal matters.

In 2018, I spent a year working in Congress as an investigative fellow through the Project on Government Oversight. Working with the House Energy and Commerce Committee's Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee, I focused primarily on issues related to the opioid crisis.
