Senior Property Tax Analyst in Chicago, Illinois
A longtime advocate for women’s rights, Andrea Raila serves as a Cook County Women’s Commissioner on the Cook County Committee of Human Rights, Ethics and Women's Issues. Serving in this position since 2008, she provides advice to the president as well as members of the Cook County Board of Commissioners on a diverse range of issues pertinent to women and girls. This advice contributes to new policies and programs applied to both the public and private sectors which help promote equality of opportunity, pay, and protections against domestic violence. Alongside her advocacy work, Andrea Raila undertakes research in order to explore new policy and program options, and develop empirical data on the progress of gender equity in Cook County.
In her professional life, Andrea serves as a senior property tax analyst at Raila & Associates PC, a privately owned law firm dedicated to providing tax services. In this position she leverages over three decades of experience handling tax appeals and refunds on behalf of property owners, managers, and tenants throughout Chicago to secure positive resolutions regarding tax issues and advocate for better tax policy. Alongside her work at Raila & Associates PC, Andrea Raila has been a housing advocate working with legislators and policymakers for over two decades to improve property tax code and statutes for the people of Cook County. Additionally, Andrea Raila serves as a financial educator, participating in annual Federal Reserve Bank Smart Money Week programs and serving as an instructor in property management at the Community Investment Corporation for 18 years.
In her spare time, Andrea Raila serves as treasurer of the Chicago Legal Advocacy for Incarcerated Mothers (CLAIM). She also volunteers and raises funds for Housing Opportunities & Maintenance for the Elderly, Glass Slipper, and Apna Ghar.
