Andrea Serrano
Project Manager and Consultant in Oakville, ON, Canada
I am newcomer in Canada and I am seeking job opportunities.
I worked for six years as an alternative development project leader for the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Our mission was to help vulnerable communities affected by illicit crops in my country of origin, Colombia.
I am an industrial engineer. My professional experience has been focused on the planning and execution of academic, scientific, social and developmental projects.
I started in this field as a project coordinator at the Industrial Engineering School of the Industrial University of Santander (UIS). Seven months later, I became part of the university’s research section and participated in the development of different projects such as the strategic execution plan of the Technological Park of Guatiguara. In 2011, I was offered a position at Maloka, the most important interactive museum in Bogota, Colombia's capital city. There, as a process quality professional, I implemented a scheme of process based on the knowledge management approach and Theory of Constraints (TOC). Finally, as mentioned above, my most recent experience as a project engineer was leading a team at the UNODC in Colombia. This experience allowed me to acquire knowledge in rural and alternative development, monitoring of government programs, and public policy. In addition, it also made me passionate about understanding social problems and finding solutions based on engineering and management knowledge.
My interests range from photography to travel. I am also interested in cycling and love singing.
