Andres Mata


Skilled in reducing job illness and injury through the implementation of behavior-based safety measures, Andres Mata optimizes corporate productivity as a professional in safety and health management. In 2010, he joined the Western and Southern Division of El Paso Exploration & Production Company in Texas as Safety Coach. In addition to interpreting and enforcing company, state, and federal safety programs and regulations, Andres Mata creates and implements field-safety programs and conducts initial evaluations, orientations, contractor safety reviews, and facilities inspections. The skilled safety expert also trains contract and company employees in making astute environmental, health, and safety observations.

Andres Mata, sharing his expertise, acts as an International Association of Drilling Contractors SafeLandUSA-Safe Gulf instructor and as an American Red Cross cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillator (AED) instructor. He completed the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) Standard course and several other OSHA courses, including Safety & Health for Oil and Gas Well Operations and Process Safety Management. Andres Mata has fulfilled numerous other courses as well, such as Principles of Ergonomics, Firefighter I-II, Permit Required Confined Space, Excavation & Trenching, and Federal Emergency Management Agency courses.

In previous key positions, the safety and health professional served as HSE Training Manager of Select Energy Services in northern Louisiana and eastern Texas and as Safety Superintendent of Precision Drilling Oil Field Services in Weatherford, Texas. In the latter post, Andres Mata developed methods of hazard identification and evaluated working-environment risks, including oil rigs. He also created training materials and led specialized education and training programs. Andres Mata's additional roles included Safety, Health, and Environmental Manager at AUI Contractors and Foreman and Safety Officer of Patterson Concrete, both in Fort Worth, Texas. At the Texas A&M University Engineering Extension Service, he completed Certified Safety and Health Official training.
