I find that reaching for the classics in my personal time broadens my horizons and elevates my thinking. I love to share the insights of age-old thinkers and imagine myself amidst tales that have stood the test of time. Chaucer, Plato, Cicero, Xenophon -- I dream of contemporaries like these and pursue every opportunity to dig deeper into what life must have been like for each one. I imagine the ranging cultural contexts which must have shaped the works that have come to shape our present lives. I most fear that stories and histories, so separated from modernity, will be lost to the collective consciousness of our day.
