Who I am

I am an Independent Social Worker and Psychobiologist based in Central London presently working as a Best Interest Assessor under the Mental Capacity Act.

My approach to social work is from a biological, psychological and social perspective but I focus primarily on the social model of ability, as I believe that while physical or psychological variations may cause individual limitations for people, these do not have to lead to disability unless society fails to take account of, and include people, regardless of their individual differences. I practice positive, life-enhancing change so that we can all experience our lives as authentic, compassionate and meaningful.

My previous experience in social work includes medical social work at various London hospitals, mental health and forensic social work in hospitals and secure units in England (including North London Forensic Service and Broadmoor Hospital), and military social work for the Ministry of Defence.

I have also provided workshops, lectures and individual coaching sessions in stress management and self-development and I have contributed to various publications as contributor, consultant and author.

My professional interests include: The Mental Capacity Act and the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards; mental health law; the role of nutrition in health and illness, coaching, self-development and clinical hypnosis.
