Andrew Ellis

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

I am a 4th year student of Computer Science currently studying at the University of Victoria. I have been studying at UVic since I graduated high school back in 2o10. As for living, I have been staying on my own at a house just a 5 minute walk from campus.

When I first began my study's at UVic, my intended degree was in chemistry and earth and ocean science. That changed after my second year when I made the choice to switch into computer science which turned out to be more interesting for me as I have always had a keen interest in computers and technology.

After switching, I set my program to focus more on the practical aspects of computer science such as computer architecture and programming. In the winter of 2013, some friends and I attended a 'hackathon' sponsored by the video game developer/publisher Electronic Arts. At the event, my team developed and presented a rough version of a phone game for android centered around building a fortress with blocks then proceeding to knock it down with birds.

Outside academia, I am an avid runner and try to get between 5-10km in daily. Back in 2012 I completed my advanced scuba diving licence and have been diving in many different locations around Vancouver Island with my favorite being the wreck of the HMCS Saskatchewan located just off the coast of Nanaimo. I am also a PC builder and have assembled computers from parts for myself, friends, and family. Finally I am a gamer who loves all things Nintendo with some League of Legends on the side.
