Andrew Gaines
Prof. of Theatre, Communication, and Psychotherapy in Brooklyn, New York
I bring 20 years of interdisciplinary experience teaching theatre, performance studies, and drama therapy in higher education (undergraduate and graduate) and 20 years at primary and secondary levels. Currently, I teach Introduction to Theatre at City University of New York. As a performing arts professional, I have also worked extensively as an actor (AEA/AFTRA), director, playwright, and producer across a variety of venues including Off-Broadway, regional theatre, national and international tours, web, film, and television. My award-winning silent physical comedy troupe meshed vaudevillian stage antics with video to earn praises from the New York Times. Additionally, based on my decade of drama therapy practice, I have built expertise in training students to ethically facilitate impactful community-engaged theatre.
