Andrew Hewitt

Wharfedale

Greetings! I'm Andrew Hewitt. I'm an adopted Yorkshireman, having lived in Wharfedale since I was five years old. I work at the Nonwovens Innovation & Research Institute (NIRI), a R&D spin out company on the University of Leeds campus. Official title is 'Grants Manager', but I'm really more of a 'Wacky Inventor'. I'm also heavily involved with Upstagers theatre group based in Ilkley which takes up most of what was formally my spare time!

My main interests (outside Upstagers) are photography, birdwatching, Star Wars (I have a full set of stormtrooper armour), pro wrestling, web design, wildlife, dinosaurs and cars.

I'm a bit of a mother hen when it comes to my friends, but hopefully my heart is in the right place. I try to see the best in people, which may mean I'm a bit naive, but I'd rather look for the good in people and occasionally be disappointed than be mistrustful and look for the bad. The more people I can raise a smile from, the better.

I dislike shallow, self-centred and arrogant people (and being called Andy). Fortunately I've found most people in my life to be everso great. I've got the best family and the best friends in the world, which makes me one very lucky guy.
