Before my work in technology, I was active in the film and television industry, producing a documentary exhibited at the Toronto International Film Festival, Melbourne and Sydney Film Festivals, the Lollapalooza Festival, as well as broadcast on SBS-TV in Australia and Channel 4 in the UK. With over twenty years of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) experience spanning social media, wireless, telecommunications, e-business, Internet, and software and hardware solutions, I have worked with a diverse list of companies in North America and Europe. Over the last seven years, social media strategy and social selling have become the focus of the work that I do. My focus goes beyond social media campaigns to the “operationalization” of social media and the ongoing efforts required to turn an organization into a social enterprise.

I have been fortunate enough to have been at the leading edge of technology on more than one occasion. In 1995, I launched an e-commerce company, followed by channel and alliance development for Inex Corporation, which was later acquired by InfoSpace Inc. After that, I became involved in wireless technologies focused on strategic alliances for Bell Canada. Finally, after leaving Bell Canada, I was commissioned by the U.K.'s National Endowment for Science, Technology, and the Arts (NESTA) to conduct extensive research on social media focused on governance, commerce, demographics, and collaborative innovation. Since then, the social media strategy work that my company and I do has been diverse. It has included consulting as the Head of Social Media Strategy for Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), outsourced social media management for some for-profit and non-profit organizations, strategy and content planning support for large media companies and non-profits, and training B2B and financial salespeople on social selling.

I regularly speak about social media and its impact on how we interact and conduct business. I am continually amazed by the people I have met personally and professionally, and by the opportunities that have come through serendipity and the openness to connect that exists within and because of social media. I believe there is value in every conversation, so feel free to reach out. I look forward to connecting.
