I'm Professor of Climate Adaptation and a research scientist at the University of Birmingham. My research interests are in Wind Engineering, Wind Energy resource assessment, Vehicle Aerodynamics of trucks & trains and the Resilience of infrastructure and communities to extreme weather and climate change.
I am also the Director of Education in the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. My educational research interest is understanding how students receive, perceive and understand the feedback from lecturers to try and encourage them to engage with more of it and make the most of it. I also a passionate advocate for sustainability in and out of the currculum and run Net Zero events with local community.
I've been involved in some great engineering projects including the "wobbly" millennium bridge in London, the West Coast Main Line (Railway) route modernisation and the Olympic stadium in London as well. I've was the lead author for the global rail industry framework on adaptation for climate change.
