Andrew Ungerleider is a visionary “ecopreuner” who founded and leads Albuquerque, New Mexico-based Growstone, LLC. His company takes waste glass that would otherwise go to landfills and repurposes it as a synthetice perlite. This versatile material has uses in hydroponic growing systems and as a soil additive that helps in water retention. Andrew Ungerleider and his team are currently planning ways of expanding this eco-friendly process to recycling centers across the country. In addition to his work with Growstone, he also heads Earthstone, LLC, which employs waste glass as construction materials and cleaning and sanding blocks.
Mr. Ungerleider supports a number of worthy organizations, with an emphasis on New Mexico environmental issues, through the Livingry Foundation (LF). He is dedicated to creating a planet that works for the benefit of all beings, in the process redirecting energy from weaponry to the Buckminster Fuller-inspired concept of “livingry.” An integral member of the Peace and Security Funders Group, LF has provided grants to the Rainforest Action Network and the Common Cause Education Fund. Andrew Ungerleider is also executive producer of the acclaimed documentary “Dying to Know,” which focuses on the lives of Ram Dass and Timothy Leary.
