I started learning programming back in the 90's with Turbo Pascal when our computer teacher proposed it (the official curricula only consisted of using Windows 95 etc.). We were a small group trying to get our hands dirty with 80x25 characters DOS screens and to make something out of it. I don't recall doing something very useful (if not counted an UI for a SimCity save-game patcher and some small games of our own) but it was a lot of fun. I'm trying to keep this fun going in the present day by fiddling with everything new and interesting. Somehow I missed the Rails train but I'm totally on the Node.JS one.
