I am the school library media specialist at David C. Barrow Elementary in Athens, GA and a Google Certified Innovator. My library program is grounded in transliteracy, participatory culture, and students as creators of content shared with the global community. My students are often seen skyping with authors, guest speakers, and the developers of the tools that they use in class. I also collaborate with libraries around the country.

I have presented at numerous conferences including the School Library Journal Leadership Summit, American Association of School Librarians Conference, Georgia Educational Technology Conference, and the Texas Library Association Conference. I have articles in Teacher Librarian, Knowledge Quest, Schools, and California Reader. I have also been a monthly columnist for Library Sparks. I have served on national conference planning committees including the School Reform Initiative Winter Meeting, where I was the social media chair. I am a Flipgrid Ambassador and Flipgrid Certified Educator.

I lead professional learning and offer keynote speeches for librarians around the country. I also serve as a consultant for School Reform Initiative.

I have received several honors including the 2017 American Association of School Librarians Social Media Superstar for Sensational Student Voice, Library Journal Movers and Shakers, National School Board Association 20 to Watch in Education Technology, School Library Journal Librarian of the Year finalist, Georgia Exemplary Elementary Library Media Program, Northeast Georgia Library Media Specialist of the Year, and the Clarke County Foundation for Excellence Kathryn H.
