Andy Mattes

Andy Mattes has been consistently recognized for his achievements in the fields of business technology and communications. A 1985 graduate of the Ludwig Maximilians Universität in Munich, Germany, with a Diplom Kaufmann (a degree comparable to a MBA), Mattes currently serves as a consultant on the advisory boards of several companies. These include Opera Solutions, LLC, which assembles and mines mass quantities of data to effect positive business outcomes; Violin Memory, which develops new designs and hardware for robust and efficient flash memory; TransLattice, a database and application management company; and LonoCloud, a PaaS+ company that enables distributed hybrid cloud topologies.

Mattes began his career as a sales, finance, and post-merger-and-acquisitions executive with Siemens Communications. During his time with Siemens, Mattes assisted the company in achieving a greater degree of market penetration worldwide. He also helped to consolidate product portfolios and to create a complete, new IP-based product line, which he introduced throughout the 160 countries where the company did business, thereby increasing revenues. During his last four years with Siemens, Mattes was a member of its executive committee, and from 2004 to 2005, he served as chief executive officer of Siemens Communications Inc., USA.

In 2006, Andy Mattes became the head of sales for the Technology Solutions Group of the Hewlett-Packard Company (HP), where he drove organic growth, grew the global sales force, implemented a new sales rigor, and developed new compensation structures. He was key to the integration of Electronic Data Systems into HP. Mattes ended his tenure with HP in 2011, at which time he was the senior vice president and general manager of HP Enterprise Services.

In 2011, Mattes used his business knowledge and experience to serve as counsel to the board members and executives of a number of corporations, advising them on a diverse set of issues, including restructuring, refinancing, sales, global expansion, business excellence, and innovation.

Andy Mattes has been recognized by his peers for his expertise and experience, and he has been the recipient of a number of awards related to the industry. He has also received invitations to speak at several important events, including a 2005 Congressional hearing on the Telecommunications Bill.
