Andrew is an English artist-painter who went to France 16 years ago, liked the way of life there, and stayed. Initially he lived in the South- west But he now lives near Le Mans.
Whilst in England Andrew worked as a design engineer, and practiced surfing, windsurfing and sailing in his spare time. Following redundancy in 1996 he changed careers, and armed with his « Yachtmaster » certificate he started delivering sailing boats around Europe.
At Carcassonne, one cold winter, Andrew learnt to paint. His early works were promising and encouraged him to continue. Andrew is completely self-taught, without any artistic training. He paints in oils, boats, barges and the sea - large forceful breaking waves.
Not wanting to rest fixed in one subject, Andrew also paints birds with realism and has recently begun a series of modes of transport on an abstract backgrounds, thus combining the abstract with realism.
He exhibits his paintings regularly in France. Particularly the Gers, Bretagne, the Pays de la Loire and the Centre.
